Creating SPF record prevent emails sent from Kinvey going to spam

I thought I would create a post as I had to dig around for this answer. Hope it helps you

Using modules.email.send() in business logic to send emails will almost certainly have your email rock up in the junk mail folder. After some digging I think I found that Kinvey uses SendGrind.

To send emails and prevent ending up in spam I did the following:

  1. Use a from email address with your domain "contact@mydomain.com"
  2. In the DNS setup of your domain "mydomain.com" create a TXT record "v=spf1 include:sendgrid.net ~all"  see this link https://sendgrid.com/docs/Glossary/spf.html
  3. Format the email to prevent spam triggers. This isn't bad https://sendgrid.com/blog/10-tips-to-keep-email-out-of-the-spam-folder/

My emails now seem to be avoiding the junk folder.

Happy building. Kinvey please feel free to correct.

so far hotmail consistently sees all emails as junk, icloud and others seem to be ok.

I have tried the above suggestions with no luck. Huge issue...

Hello Sagar,

Please send me an email address that you used to send to hotmail and it went to the SPAM folder. Also, please include an email address that you sent to another email system that was NOT received in the SPAM folder. For privacy reasons, please send it to me via email at billy@kinvey.com

I'll take a look at our email service and see if I see anything unusual.

Regards,

Billy Gee
