I might just be thinking about this the wrong way, but what is an Active User exactly? Does the free version make it so that only up to 100 users can be using the backend at any given time? Or are active users just the people who use the app daily?
Please look at http://www.kinvey.com/developer/pricing
We've defined active user for a particular month there as "any user that makes API requests during that month". Apps can have any number of active users in a month. If the app has over 100 active users that month, you move into the paid bucket.

An active user is defined as any user that makes an API call in that month. If the App has over 100 active users that month, you move into the paid bucket.
Typically in development you won't have more than 100 active users, which is why we price it that way. Concurrent users are people using the app at the same time.
