Fetch and query on different thread/queue

Everytime that I make a background request of data from Kinvey's backend my app interface gets completely unresponsive.

I've tried to put my fetches on another thread/queue but when I do that, I get no response from server.

So, is there a way to resolve it? How can I improve the querying process to make my flow better?
